Kamala Harris said a guilty verdict in the Chauvin trial still won’t heal the pain that existed for generations due to systemic racism.

“I think there needs to be a consequence and accountability for people who break the law. Period,” Harris told CNN’s Dana Bash.

Harris’s remarks came shortly before the jury found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty on all three counts in the murder trial of George Floyd’s death.

Derek Chauvin on Tuesday was found guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

Kamala Harris says a guilty verdict still isn’t enough.

“Let’s say there is a guilty verdict on the highest charge, it will not take away the pain of the Floyd family.
