Former Harvard law professor and constitutional expert Alan Dershowitz weighed in on the Chauvin case after lawyers for former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin filed a motion for a new trial.
Derek Chauvin’s lawyer, Eric Nelson, filed a motion on Tuesday for a new trial, alleging jury misconduct.
On April 20, a jury reached a verdict in the murder trial of former Minneapolis cop Dereck Chauvin in George Floyd’s death.
Chauvin was found guilty on all counts: 2nd degree murder, 3rd degree murder and 2nd degree manslaughter.
In his motion, Nelson alleges eight total abuses of discretion by the court, including “the interests of justice; abuse of discretion that deprived the Defendant of a fair trial;
