Sarah Palin Tests Positive for COVID-19 as Defamation Trial Against New York Times Was Set to Begin
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has tested positive for COVID-19 on the day that her lawsuit against the New York Times was heading to trial.
Manhattan federal court Judge Jed Rakoff, who is presiding over the trial, told the courtroom about her positive test.
The judge stated specifically that “she is of course unvaccinated.”
The court is now waiting on the results of a second test to confirm if the trial can go on as scheduled, as her first test was a home kit — which are not always accurate.
The lawsuit centers around a New York Times op-ed that falsely implicated Palin’s political action committee (PAC) for “political incitement” in the shooting of former Rep. Gabby Giffords.
