“Rape, Torture, Kill” Child Molester Released From California Mental Hospital in 2020 Arrested in Phoenix For Contacting Mother of 7-Year-Old Victim

In 2020, convicted child sex offender Cary Jay Smith was released from a California psychiatric facility after being forcefully hospitalized for more than 20 years.
After getting chased out of multiple cities in Orange County, California, Smith ended in Phoenix.
Police arrested Smith in Phoenix on Wednesday after he used Facebook to contact the mother of one of his victims.
“Smith faces one count of failing to register as a sex offender. Arizona’s Family obtained the initial court appearance for Smith. It listed what mental conditions as: schizophrenic disorder, pedophilic disorder, and sexual sadism disorder. A Maricopa County judge held him under a $10,000 cash-only bond.
