Residents near Lake Huron in Canada’s Ontario province were stunned over the weekend when the airspace above the lake was closed due to an “active air defense operation.” The airspace closure came on the heels of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration’s airspace closure over Lake Michigan, while military aircraft conducted a patrol.

Adding to the confusion, Rep. Elise Slotkin (D-MI) reported that the Pentagon had confirmed tracking an object over Lake Huron. This news came a day after the Canadian Prime Minister had ordered a NORAD shootdown of a high altitude object over the Yukon and the U.S. shot down an object over Alaska on Friday.

The possibility of an unidentified flying object (UFO) is the source of much speculation, though officials have yet to confirm or deny the presence of an unknown aircraft. In the meantime, those who live near Lake Huron are left to ponder the mysterious events that have unfolded over their lake in the past few days.
