AT&T’s stock dropped nearly 7%, wiping out $10 billion from its market value, after the media giant deplatformed Newsmax from its DirecTV satellite TV systems. The move has outraged conservatives in America, including former President Donald Trump, who called on citizens to cancel AT&T services, including wireless and cellular.

The decision to remove Newsmax, a cable news channel reaching 25 million people according to Nielsen, was met with fierce criticism as the company paid the cable license fee for 22 liberal organizations at the same time.

Senators Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, former Arkansas GOP Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., Dennis Prager and President Trump have encouraged people to switch their service providers in response to the censorship of Newsmax.
