Breaking: Massive Bridge Collapse in Baltimore; Large Sections of Key Bridge Falls into Patapsco River After Cargo Ship Collision Took Out Support Column
The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland collapsed early Tuesday morning after a cargo ship collided with and took out a support column. The Key Bridge is a major commuter route carrying the Baltimore Beltway I-695 over the Patapsco River at the southern end of the Baltimore Harbor. There are no official reports on casualties as of this writing. There are unconfirmed reports of several cars in the water as well as construction workers unaccounted for. As of just before 5 a.m. EDT, rescue crews have not pulled anyone out of the water, however the crew on the ship is reported to be safe and all accounted for.
