“Louisiana Secretary of State Ardoin Defends Use of Dominion Voting Machines Despite Skepticism”

Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin is once again pushing for Dominion Voting Machines to be used in state elections. However, many Louisianans are skeptical about the security and reliability of these machines. Ardoin has promised transparency and independent testing, but this is the third time he has made such a bid. Will Ardoin’s credibility be affected by his choice?

In August 2018, Kyle Ardoin announced a $95 million contract with Dominion Voting Systems for a new electronic voting system in the state. However, two months later the State Procurement Office rescinded the contract due to “flaws” in the bidding process. Ardoin then attempted a second time to consummate a contract in 2021, but was forced to ditch the process again due to multiple complaints from competing election technology companies.

At a meeting in February, Ardoin made various public commitments, including requiring any prospective Louisiana election system to provide “the proprietary code” and to be subjected to “expert testing” before approval. Despite these promises, it is plausible Ardoin had again structured the bid process in a way that favored Dominion.
